Newborn Care Specialist / Baby Nurse Services FAQ's

Welcome to More Than A Nanny Agency! We've compiled answers to your most common questions about our Night and 24-Hour Baby Nurse Services, designed to provide expert care and support for new and expectant parents in NYC, Westchester, Bergen County, North NJ, Fairfield CT, and even Nationwide.

1. What are the schedule options available if we're unsure of our needs?

We offer both Night and 24-Hour Baby Nurse Services. Night nurse support, our most popular choice, provides assistance when you need it the most. Night support options include 10-12 hours per night, for 5-7 nights per week. For around-the-clock care, our 24-Hour baby nurse lives in, offering day and night support with meals and breaks included.

2. What qualifications do your baby nurses have?

Our success lies in our selection process. Our Newborn Specialists (commonly referred to as baby nurses) are highly trained professionals with Infant CPR certification, proper vaccinations, clean background checks, and glowing references. They are experts in various areas, including newborn wellness monitoring, gentle baby sleep training, feeding, routine development, and much more. Most importantly, they genuinely love what they do and are happy to support you as needed during this exciting and sometimes challenging time!

3. How long should we book a baby nurse, and what are the minimum requirements?

We offer services ranging from a few weeks to up to one year, with most families needing support for 2-4 months on average. This allows for the most essential care during the newborn period and helps establish routines that are beneficial long-term. Carefully consider your family's needs, goals and budget as our specialists are typically booked out in advance, making last minute extension requests difficult to accommodate.

4. What if we want to extend our baby nurse's services?

Many of our clients request to extend their newborn care services. We'll do our best to accommodate your request, but extensions are not guaranteed due to advance bookings. If your baby nurse is unavailable for an extension, we can look into recommending another caregiver.

5. Can we book a baby nurse part-time for a few nights a week?

We have an exclusive pool of full time Newborn Specialists that are dedicated to this work.  You can choose 5, 6, or 7 nights per week. Consistency over consecutive nights is ideal for establishing routines and feeding/sleep cycles for your baby, even after the baby nurse leaves.

6. How far in advance should we reserve a baby nurse before our baby arrives?

We recommend booking as early as possible. While we can accommodate last-minute requests, a caregiver may only be available briefly between assignments. Advance scheduling allows us to select the baby nurse best suited for your family's specific needs and preferences.

7. What happens if our assigned baby nurse isn't available when the baby arrives?

We understand that babies don't always arrive on schedule. We plan for flexibility by scheduling a bit before and after your due date. We're ready to wait patiently for your baby's magnificent entrance! If the dates are way off, we will look to provide a qualified fill-in baby nurse for the initial week or so.

8. How does the process work?

To start, complete our NEWBORN CARE REQUEST online. A placement coordinator will contact you to review your needs, confirm preferences, and answer any remaining questions you may have about how it works. We'll recommend the most suitable baby nurse based on your needs, provide their bio and experience for your review, and arrange a call to help you feel more comfortable before booking.

9. What are the rates and fees for your services?

Our strong relationships and competitive rates have allowed us to retain and recommend the most qualified and loving caregivers for years at a time. Although each of our newborn specialists are qualified, rates vary based on number of years of experience, specific credentials, and the job and schedule details:

- NIGHT or DAY CARE: Starting from $35+ per hour.
- 24-HR CARE: Starting from $500+ per day.

We will work with you to recommend care based on your budget and preferences.  Rates are on the higher end for twins care. An agency fee of 20% (of the booking period) is applied separately to a credit card, covering placement, screenings, and guaranteed booking period. This fee is not deducted from the caregiver's rate. Families typically pay the baby nurse at the end of each week or another agreeable interval.

At More Than A Nanny Agency, we are proud to have supported thousands of families by providing reliable and exceptional care during this special time in parenthood.  If you have any additional questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're excited to help you find the perfect baby nurse for your family.  As many of our clients have mentioned, our services are well worth the investment and we look forward to working with your family soon!
